Kevin Lee doesn’t have too many losses on his record and he’s getting the chance to avenge one of them when he takes on Al Iaquinta in the lightweight main event of UFC on FOX 31 at the Fiserv Forum on Dec. 15.
The headliner was announced by officials Wednesday following a report by the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel.
This will mark Lee’s second fight in 2018, the other being a fifth-round TKO (doctor stoppage) win over Edson Barboza back in April at UFC Fight Night: Barboza vs. Lee. He came in a pound heavy for that bout.
That was Lee’s sixth win in his last seven fights, the lone loss during that stretch a third-round submission to Tony Ferguson in an interim UFC championship match at UFC 216. “The Motown Phenom” is 10-3 in the UFC and 17-3 overall.
Iaquinta (13-4-1) defeated Lee by unanimous decision in their first meeting at UFC 169 on Feb. 8, 2014. He is coming off of his own recent title opportunity this past April at UFC 223 in which he stepped in to fight Khabib Nurmagomedov for a vacant belt on less than 48 hours’ notice after Nurmagomedov saw two other potential opponents, Ferguson and Max Holloway, withdraw due to injury and weight cut complications, respectively.
Since losing in the finals of The Ultimate Fighter 15, Iaquinta has gone 8-2 inside the Octagon.
