Former world title challenger Romulo Koasicha (25-6, 15 KOs) of Mexico will return to the Telemundo airwaves this Friday. His opponent will be countryman Josue Veraza (18-8-2, 14 KOs). The site will be the Auditorio Blackberry in Mexico City, Mexico. The 10 round main event will continue the Telemundo Summer series.
The two will do battle for the vacant WBO Latino featherweight title. Koaischa is hungry for another world title opportunity Like the one he had vs Vasyl Lomachenko in 2015 but knows he cannot look past the equally as hungry Veraza.
How was your preparation for what will be your first fight of 2017?
Very good. I am very close to my making weight now actually. Just finishing up the final details of training and ready for fight night.
How has your break from the ring been for your body after back to back tough fights?
I feel very motivated. I have a lot of new and fresh energy. I got new goals and I am feeling very positive.
Can you share with us those goals?
I want to get my momentum back that I had prior to my world title fight. I want to get myself back ranked in the top 10 in the world again. It’s one fight at a time starting with this fight.
What do you know about your opponent?
He is a very strong fighter. He likes to bring the fight to his opponent and fight in close quarters.
Do you feel your experience from your world title fight will give you the edge in this fight?
I learned a lot vs Lomachenko and I do feel it has made me a better fighter now. In this fight, I think my overall advantage in professional fights will be a big factor. I can’t just count on that though. I have to make those advantages manifest themselves.
What kind of fight should the fans expect?
A very exciting fight. We both like to bring it! Our styles combined can only produce a thriller like so many mexican fighters have delivered before us. I hope everybody who can will tune in Friday on Telemundo. You wont regret it.
