UFC 214 already has a big main event, and now the card is filling out with compelling fights. According to the LA Times, a battle of top-five featherweights will go down, as well as a former bantamweight champion’s return to 135 against a tough opponent looking to climb back up the ladder.
The first bout will see the Korean Zombie, Chan Sung Jung, taking on Ricardo Lamas. Jung (14-4, 4-1 UFC) made his return to the UFC after two-plus years of military service in February, picking up right where he left off with a first-round knockout of Dennis Bermudez. Lamas (17-5, 8-3 UFC) is coming off a submission win over Charles Oliveira in November.
The other fight will see former champ Renan Barao meeting Aljamain Sterling. Barao (34-4, 1 NC, 9-3 UFC) went 1-1 in a short run at featherweight after losing two 135-pound title bouts to T.J. Dillashaw. His last fight was a decision win over Phillipe Nover. Sterling (13-2, 5-2 UFC) rebounded from two straight losses with a decision win over Augusto Mendeslast month on a Fox show.
UFC 214 goes down in Anaheim, CA on July 29th and will be headlined by the second fight between Daniel Cormier and Jon Jones.
