Kristina Williams pulled off a major upset in her first professional MMA bout and the challenges just keep on coming.
Williams (1-0) will look to capitalize on her TKO win over Heather Hardy last October when she takes on one-time title contender Emily Ducote in a women’s flyweight bout at Bellator 195 on March 2 at the WinStar World Casino in Thackerville, Okla. Officials confirmed the matchup to MMA Fighting following an initial report by MMAjunkie.
In her Bellator debut, Williams stole headlines from the heavily favored Hardy, a world champion in boxing, putting on an impressive striking performance before forcing a doctor stoppage in Round 2. Williams grew up in Oklahoma and went undefeated as an amateur before signing with Bellator.
Ducote (6-3) is coming off of a fifth-round submission loss to Ilima Macfarlane at Bellator 186in November. It was the second time the two had fought and the second time Macfarlane defeated Ducote, the latter victory earning Macfarlane the inaugural Bellator women’s flyweight championship. Ducote entered their rematch with back-to-back victories over Jessica Middletonand Katy Collins.
Bellator 195 will be headlined by a title fight between bantamweight champion Darrion Caldwelland Leandro Higo.
