Japanese former 2-division champ Hiroto Kyoguchi 京口紘人 (18-1, 12 KO’s) of the famous Watanabe Gym came back to action – now as a flyweight – to stop in 3 chapters brave 26-year-old Pinoy warrior “Iron Fist” Jerven Mama (13-4-1, 4 KO’s) of the Gensan’s Sanman Gym.

Kyoguchi boxed aggressively from the start, using a peep style to press and land jabs, straight right hands, and left body strikes.

On the other hand, Mama, who was 400 grams overweight at the weigh-in, was forced to move backwards, swing long hooks. His strategy did not work.

At the end of the round, Mama was caught with a thunderous left uppercut, falling down hurt onto the dark grey canvas.  But the relentless, big-heart Pinoy fighter did his best to stand up, although getting counted till 10.

KO win for Kyoguchi in his 2nd fight as 112-pounder.

It was clear to fans, even before the fight started, that the talented Kyoguchi is far superior to the strong and slightly taller Jerven Mama, who hails from Minadano’s General Santos City in Southern Philippines, and it showed.

The world-ranked 29-year-old Kyoguchi, born in Osaka, aims at earning a shot at the Flyweight world title.

So far, it seems that he might eventually get it.

Fast, skilled and confident, Kyoguchi has reigned as champion of the world in the 105 and 108 pound divisions.

Will he reign also as a 112 lbs world champion? Time will tell.

The non-title co-main event battle was produced by Tokyo promoter Shota Furusawa 古澤将太 of Dangan Promotions on Friday, September 22, at the Korakuen Hall in Tokyo, Japan.
