Undefeated Bilal Laggoune, now 19-0-2, 9 KOs, considered by most observers as the best actual Belgian boxer due to his accomplishments, will make his official debut at light heavyweight on Saturday in Ninove, Belgium, against vastly experienced Frenchman Hakim Chioui, 31-5-1, 19 KOs, over twelve rounds for the vacant WBC Francophone title. Chioui is a former French national champion. He was knocked out in nine rounds for the EBU title by Igor Mikhailkin.
Laggoune, himself a three-time national champion, former WBC Mediterranean champion and EBU-EU champion, is best known for his draw against hard hitting Dmytro Kucher for the vacant EBU cruiserweight title. Kucher recently went on to win that vacant belt by knocking out Enzo Maccarinelli inside one round. All of Laggoune’s belts have been won at cruiserweight.
On the undercard his friend and sponsor, multimillionaire Joe Fournier will have a 4 rounder against Belgian Mustapha Stini. Meriton Karaxha, Femke Hermans and former EBU challenger Elfi Philips will have bouts on the show promoted by the brother of Bilal, Ezzedine Laggoune.
