The fight of welterweight Alvin “Time Bomb” Lagumbay of Bukidnon in Tanzania will no longer push through after he and his trainer were not able to take the flight last Dec. 23.

According to his manager Art Monis of Hardstone Monis Boxing Gym, they were not able to take the flight last Dec. 23 due to the non-payment of the tickets by the Tanzania promoter and managing director Salum Kuhowa Viduka.

They were supposed to take another flight on Dec. 24 but it was useless because the SWAB test is only until Dec. 24 and they expected to arrive on Dec, 25 in Dubai.

“Ang laki ng magastos naming SWAB test na lang laki na,” (The SWAB test is just too expensive), said Monis.

The promoter wants to move the fight for one week in order to fix the needs again.

Monis wants to have the expenses return first like transportation and travel insurance. But the promoter does not want it.

“Siyempre naniniguro lang din ako dahil malaki na na gastos ko,” (I’m just making sure because it costs a lot ko), Monis said.

Costs will reach P8K. Return SWAB test for P16K plus travel tax and visa.

“Di na lang po lalaban, marami pang ibang offer (We will not fight anymore, there are many other offers), said Monis.

The 25-year-old southpaw Lagumbay was supposed to fight Cosmas Cheka (18W-11L-4D, 3KO) of Tanzania on Dec. 27 for the UBO Asia Pacific title at the Jamhuri Stadium.

“Pinalitan ang UBO Asia one week notice lang, (Replaced UBO Asia just one-week notice), said Monis.

Lagumbay was presumed to be accompanied by trainer Tacy Macalos, former International Boxing Federation world light flyweight champion.

Lagumbay grabbed the WBO Asia Pacific welterweight title from Keita Obara of Japan by a 2nd round knockout last April 12, 2018, at Korakuen Hall in Tokyo, Japan.

But Lagumbay immediately lost the title in a rematch with Obara via a TKO in the 3rdround last Aug. 9, 2018, at Korakuen Hall.

Lagumbay later lost by a TKO to Gor Yeritsyan of Armenia in the 2nd round last Dec. 18, 2018, in Pyramide, Kazan.
