DAVAO CITY — Former world-rated Toto “Muscovado” Landero of Negros Occidental lost by a unanimous decision to Tibo “Ilduce” Monabesa of Indonesia for the vacant World Boxing Council International Lightweight title last April 14 at the Balai Sarbini Convention Hall in Jakarta.
The scores were at 115-113, 116-112 and 117-111, all in favor of Monabesa.
Landero only hurt Monabesa with a cut on the left face in the 12th round. But that was only the best thing that Landero could ever do. He did throw short punches but Monabesa also answered with his own jabs too.
Monabesa improved to 21 wins against one loss and two draws while Landero suffered his fifth setback against 11 wins with two draws.
“Sorry hindi na knockout ang kalaban umabot ng round. Natalo kami by decision (Sorry no more knockout the opponent reaches the round. We lost by decision)” said Landero.
The boxing match was handled by Indonesian Boxing Association (IBA/ATI) with Armin Tan as the promoter.
