Late sub Erik Ruiz (16-5-1, 6 KOs) scored a surprising ten round majority decision over Hanzel Martinez (23-3, 19 KOs) on Friday night at the Downtown Las Vegas Events Center (DLVEC). In a closely contested fight, Ruiz won the previously vacant WBA international super bantamweight title. The scores were 95-95, 98-92, 97-93. Martinez is the brother-in-law of Antonio Margarito.
Unbeaten bantamweight Stephon Young (15-0-3, 6 KOs) claimed the WBA-NABA title scoring a ten round unanimous decision over Tony Lopez, Jr. (11-2, 4 KOs) on Friday night at the Downtown Las Vegas Events Center (DLVEC). The scores were 95-95, 97-93, 96-94.
Undefeated welterweight John Vera (15-0, 10 KOs) scored a second round TKO over Milorad Zizic (12-2, 6 KOs). In round two Vera knocked down Zizic twice. The referee called off the fight. Time was 2:15.
