Liam Harrison Has An Answer For Whatever Rodlek Brings

Liam “The Hitman” Harrison is convinced that his match-up at ONE: LEGENDARY QUEST with Rodlek PK.Saenchaimuaythaigym will thrill martial arts fans around the world.

On Saturday, 15 June, this ONE Super Series bantamweight Muay Thai bout will pit two of the most aggressive strikers on the planet against one another at the Baoshan Arena in Shanghai, China

“Our styles are just going to cause an explosion from what I see,” offers the eight-time Muay Thai World Champion.

“It’s a tough fight. He’s renowned for his come-forward style, he’s a bit of a warmonger. He likes to come forward and get stuck in, but so do I. It’s going to suit me down to the ground!”

Harrison returns for his second outing in The Home Of Martial Arts, and he will drop to a more comfortable weight class. He will also don the 4-ounce mixed martial arts gloves for the first time, and he believes that both of these elements will play in his favor against the WMC Muay Thai World Champion.

The man from Bad Company gym in Leeds, England says he will carry more stopping power against an opponent in his natural division, which may force Rodlek to rethink his usual approach.

“He’s got good elbows, a decent low kick, and he’s strong, but if he’s just going to walk forward against my style, especially in the small gloves, then he’s going to get hurt,” says “The Hitman.”

“I’m not expecting him to just walk at me, because anybody who just walks at me in those gloves – it’s going to be [a mistake].”

However, as much as Rodlek likes to engage and throw heavy leather, he is also a decorated athlete with an exemplary 125-40-5 record who knows how to navigate tough contests against elite opposition.

Harrison will not sell his opponent short, and he realizes that he will have to have to think strategically when the hard-hitting competitors face off in an exciting showcase of “the art of eight limbs.”

“Obviously, he is a top-level Thai and he’s smart, so I don’t expect him to just walk forward into everything,” he explains.

“I’m expecting him to have a game plan and to mix it up a little bit. I’ll be prepared for whatever he brings.”

“The Hitman” has scouted his rival from Bangkok’s PK.Saenchaimuaythaigym, and he will use his own 110-bout experience to try to find the gaps in his armor.

His analysis has shown him a potential route to victory, but he is keen not to put all his focus on one approach because he knows he may have to adapt to his opponent on the fly to get his hand raised.

“I like working on a game plan, but there’s no point going in there and being so reliant on it, only for him to change [what he’s doing], so I’m just working on everything – like I do for every fight,” adds Harrison.

“It depends what he does on the night – he might come forward or he might go on the back foot. I’ve got a few different ideas, but I’ll see how the first round pans out.

“If he starts walking at me, you’re going to get a war because I’m not going to back up. If he wants to play technique, then I’ll change my style and come up with a different game plan.

“I feel like I’ll have an answer for whatever he tries.”
