Liborio Solis won the World Boxing Association (WBA) Fedelatin Bantamweight title on Thursday with a technical decision victory over Leosdan Nunez, at the Salón Dorado in Panama City.

The bout was stopped after the seventh round due to a cut to Nunez and went to the scorecards, in which the Venezuelan had the advantage over the Cuban boxer 65-68, 67-66, and 67-66.

Solis, a 39-year-old fighter looking for one more title opportunity in his career, came out true to his style: Aggressive and with a relentless attack on the Cuban to keep scoring rounds against an uncomfortable fighter who tried to complicate the fight with his clever boxing style.

Solis said he wants to make another fight and then get another title shot. He pointed out that he felt a little out of rhythm due to inactivity but was happy to come out with his hand up.

The South American now has a record of 31 wins, 6 losses, 1 draw, and 14 KOs, while Nunez’s record dropped to 11 wins, 2 losses, and 5 KOs.
