46-year-old Lolenga Mock, who just passed the 27th anniversary of his professional debut, has the opportunity to shoot up the WBC rankings this September when he faces Avni Yildrim in a super middleweight title eliminator.

It doesn’t seem like this is a “final” eliminator for a shot at champion David Benavidez, but the super middleweight title picture is such a mess that we’re entering Whose Line territory, so it really doesn’t make much of a difference.

Mock (42-14-1, 13 KO) has won 11 straight since a 2013 decision loss to Erik Skoglund, most recently upsetting Dmitrii Chudinov in Copenhagen. He owns wins over Giovanni De Carolis and Luke Blackledge and fought the likes of Lucian Bute and Gabriel Campillo to decisions.

The only stoppage loss of his career came in 2003 against David Haye, who weighed in ten pounds heavier than Mock.

Yildrim (19-1, 11 KO) was rewarded for his decision over Marcio Antonio Periban with a World Boxing Super Series berth, where he was promptly demolished by Chris Eubank Jr. He’s 3-0 since, most recently defeating MMA convert Ryan Ford to defend his “International” title.

Unlikely and potentially disastrous though it may be, wouldn’t it be something to see Mock finally challenge for a title against a guy who wasn’t even born when Mock made his debut?
