Lomachenko and Crolla reach an agreement

The team of Ukrainian boxer Vasyl Lomachenko, current Super Lightweight Champion of the World Boxing Association (WBA), reached an agreement with the representatives of Anthony Crollas team to fight for the WBA scepter of 135 pounds on April 12th in Los Angeles.

In this way, both gladiators are complying with the order issued by the WBA Championships Committee to carry out a battle between them and, thus, avoided the call to auction.

Lomachenko won the WBA Super Lightweight Championship on May 12th in 2018 when he beat Jorge Linares by technical knockout and subsequently made a defense against Puerto Rican native Jose Pedraza, whom he defeated by unanimous decision.

Crolla, ex-WBA monarch of the same weight category, currently occupies the first position of the organization ranking at lightweight. The English gladiator was the division’s champion in 2015, when he defeated Colombia’s Darley Perez and defended his title against Ismael Barroso of Venezuela. Then he was defeated twice by Linares, who snatched the belt from “Million Dollar.” Despite that, his good confrontations against Ricky Burns, Edson Ramirez, and Daud Yordan, all defeated by unanimous decision, took him to the top of the WBA rankings once again.

Lomachenko has a record of 12 wins, 1 loss, and 9 knockouts, while Crolla has 34 wins, 6 losses, 3 draws, and 13 knockouts.

In the next few days the teams will work towards send the contracts.
