Lomachenko-Linares: Vasyl Lomachenko’s Media Workout

Watch Lomachenko do his thing during this open media workout.

As Vasyl Lomachenko moves up to lightweight in order to take a shot at Jorge Linares — another crafty boxer — on May 12, the Ukranian fighter lets the media get a sneak peak at his training camp. Here you can watch Lomachenko work the heavybag, courtesy of our friends at Fight Hub TV.

With only 11 professional fights under his belt, Lomachenko is already considered by many to be the best pound-for-pound fighter in the sport, and he’s coming off a dominant stoppage win over Guillermo Rigondeaux. Many will point to the fact that Lomachenko was the bigger man between the two in that match-up, but it was Lomachenko’s better craft that carried the day, frustrating Rigondeaux to the point where he quit on his stool after six rounds.

Lomachenko isn’t a monstrous puncher by any means, but his boxing skill is so good that he completely demoralizes fighters to where their spirits are hurting much more than their bodies. Lomachenko has now had four consecutive fights that have been called off between rounds — leading him to refer to himself as “NoMaschenko.”

His opponent is this fight is another one of the most skilled fighters in the game, one that’s naturally bigger than Lomachenko. Even still, that’s not really expected to be enough to overcome Lomachenko’s refined talent, which speaks to just how highly his skill level is regarded. If Lomachenko is truly “otherworldly” it will be on full display here, as Linares is a legitimate world champion with supreme talents himself.
