Lopez, Roman triumph in Monterrey

Super featherweight Jairo “Doberman” Lopez (20-6, 13 KOs) scored a twelve round unanimous decision over Sergio “Dandy“ Puente (24-3, 11 KOs) on Saturday night at the Arena Jose Sulaiman in Monterrey, Mexico. Lopez prevailed 116-113, 117-112 and 117-111 to claim a vacant WBC regional belt.

In the co-feature, WBC #2, WBA #5 super featherweight Miguel “Mickey” Roman (56-11, 43 KOs) scored a third round TKO over Jerope “Niño de Oro“ Mercado (27-8-3, 9 KOs). Roman put Mercado on the deck in round three and got the stoppage with his follow up barrage. Time was 1:10.
