And then there were ten!….This Saturday, at the Molier Theater in Mexico City, the boxing gala of the DECADE, with a Ring Telmex-Telcel Gala, celebrating 10 years of sponsoring talented young fighters, many of whom are today’s engaging superstars!
Ring Telmex-Telcel was created thanks to the ideas, inspiration, commitment and combination of efforts from Don José Sulaimán and Mr. Carlos Slim, who had the vision to support this unique and ground breaking program. It was inaugurated on June 8, 2008 and has since nurtured and benefitted a large number of promising young boxers, with monthly financial support, as well as through multidisciplinary care.
With firepower, passion and unquenchable spirit, this celebration will be showcased by former world champion Ibeth ‘La Roca’ Zamora and American Melissa McMorrow, who will contest the vacanet female WBC flyweight crown. In the co-main event there will be a staggering Mexico vs. Philippines clash, with prodigious KO artist Eduardo ‘Rocky’ Hernández defending his WBC youth super featherweight world championship, trying his utmost to brush aside former world champion Drian Francisco.
Also, WBC silver bantamweight champion Julio ‘Pollito’ Ceja, world classified Felipe ‘Gallo’ Oructa, the national champion of FECOMBOX Lourdes ‘ Little Lulu ‘Juarez, Mexican Olympic medalist Misael’ El Chino ‘Rodríguez, and from the national teams in Rio 2016 Juan Pablo’ Pivi ‘Romero and Elías’ Tigre de Zitlala’ Emigdio.
