Lorenz Larkin will fill in for an injured Dong Hyun Kim at UFC 202, on August 20.
Dong Hyun Kim may have gotten hurt ahead of his fight against Neil Magny at UFC 202, but that doesn’t mean Magny will be scrapped from the card. Stepping in on short notice, Lorenz Larkin has agreed to take on Magny on August 20, as MMA Fighting reported.
In his first chance to face a top 10 opponent, Larkin (17-5, 1 NC) comes into the bout looking to make it two in a row after his split decision win over Jorge Masvidal in May. “The Monsoon” appears to have found a home in the welterweight division, where he’s picked up three wins and just one loss to fellow prospect, Albert Tumenov.
Meanwhile, Neil Magny (18-4) is seeking his fourth consecutive win, adding Larkin to a list that already consists of Erick Silva, Kelvin Gastelum, and Hector Lombard. His last loss was by submission vs. Demian Maia in August 2015, at UFC 190. Overall, Magny has won 10 of his last 11 and is #7 in the UFC welterweight rankings.
UFC 202 takes place at the T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas, Nevada, and will be headlined by a welterweight rematch between the UFC featherweight champion, Conor McGregor, and the last man to beat him, Nate Diaz.
