FORMER IBO World light flyweight champion Rey “Singwancha” Loreto lived up to his reputation by stopping Rungrit Sor Visetkit of Thailand in the third round last Friday in Bangkok, Thailand.
Loreto connected a solid left to the body to send down Visetkit on the canvas.
It was the 23rd victory and 15th knockout win against 13 losses and no draw by Loreto , who trains at the Highland Boxing Gym in La Trinidad, Benguet
“Sana, mabibigyan ako ng pagkakataon na lumaban sa championship ng WBC o WBA,” said Loreto, who is ranked no. 1 in mini flyweight contender in the World Boxing Association and no. 2 junior flyweight contender in the World Boxing Council.
The native of Calinan, Davao City wants to challenge WBA miniflyweight champion Knockout CP Freshmart (13W-6Kos) of Thailand or WBC light flyweight champion Ganigan “El Maravilla” Lopez of Mexico (28W-6L-0D-17 Kos).
“Maghihintay lang kami sa tamang panahon na mabigyan ng pagkakataon. Nakahanda kami lagi ni Loreto,” (We will just wait for the right time to be given the chance. We are always ready with Loreto) said trainer Joven Jorda.
Loreto’s business manager Brico Santig, on the other hand, said that they are hoping that their prized ward will keep his world rankings after this recent victory in Thailand.
“I hope Loreto will be given already a break by the WBC or WBA,” said Santig.
The 25-year old Freshmart, whose real name is Thammanoon Niyomtrong is still undefeated with 13 wins and 6 knockouts. He recently defended his title successfully via a unanimous decision against Byron Rojas of Nicaragua last June 29 at the City Hall’s Ground in Khon Kaen, Thailand.
