As Lucas Matthysse prepares to get back into action on Jan. 27 for the vacant WBA welterweight title, he holds an open media workout which can be viewed above courtesy of Fight Hub TV.
After Matthysse lost to Victor Postol in late 2015, he needed to take a break from the sport — especially since he suffered some serious damage to his eye — and there were thoughts that he may never fight again. But following a year-and-a-half layoff Matthysse decided to resume his fighting career and came back to stop Emmanuel Taylor last May.
Now he’ll be taking on Tewa Kiram (38-0, 28 KOs) at The Forum in Los Angeles, an opponent whole has a glitzy record but has basically never fought outside of his native Thailand.
Check out Matthysse’s current form in the video above as he teams up with veteran trainer Joel Diaz while they seek to get their hands on a major title.
