Luis Nery does not plan to raise division

By WBCBoxing.com

WBC Silver bantamweight champion Luis Nery (29-0, 23 KOs) has no intention of moving up to super bantam weight until he regains the green and gold belt he lost on the scale in Japan.

A few days after finishing his camp in Puerto Rico, under the eyes of his trainer Israel Ramírez and the advice of Puerto Rican legend Ivan Calderón, the former world champion said he is one of the best at 118 pounds and will prove it.

“It’s the first time we went out to train outside Tijuana, I have less distractions and more concentration. I have everything here, my trainer Israel Ramírez made a good work plan and the advice of champion Iván Calderón is invaluable, “Nery told ESPN Deportes.

“I do not plan to go up in division until I have recovered my green and gold crown against the Frenchman Nordine Oubaali, but first I have to defeat my next opponent, Carlos Payano, which is what I am focused on.”

On July 20 at the MGM Grand in Las Vegas, Nevada, Nery will defend his WBC Silver Bantamweight title against the dangerous Dominican Juan Carlos Payano.
