Former bantamweight titleholder Luis Nery is set to return to the ring on June 9, as the 23-year-old southpaw will be back in Tijuana against Jetro Pabustan. beIN Sports Español will televise in the States.
Nery (26-0, 20 KO) won the WBC bantamweight title from Shinsuke Yamanaka via fourth round TKO last August, and has fought twice since then, defending his title neither time.
He got off the canvas to stop Arthur Villanueva in six last November, then faced Yamanaka in a rematch on March 1 in Japan. But Nery missed weight for that fight and had to vacate his belt. In the end, the fight went on, and Nery stopped Yamanaka even quicker this time, putting him away in the second round.
Pabustan (29-5-6, 9 KO) is a 28-year-old Filipino who is 3-3 in his last six and coming off of a loss to Hiroaki Teshigawara last October at Korakuen Hall.
