World Boxing Council bantamweight champion Luis “Pantera” Nery has arrived in Japan, to defend his title against the legendary Japanese boxer, Shinsuke Yamanaka, in a rematch, on March 1st at the Kokukigan Arena.
Luis Nery surprised the world on August 15 of last year by defeating the local fighter and conquering the WBC world title, in what was supposed to be a Japanese party, since Yamanaka sought to equal the record of the most title defenses (13) set by the idol Yoko Gushiken.
Comfortably ensconced in his hotel, the champion all the way from Tijuana commented:
“I am very happy to come to Japan for the second time. Japan is cold, so it`s necessary to make an effort to take good care of myself to lose weight.
“My fight with Shinsuke Yamanaka will be tough, but I will get the victory. I will go into this fight with an aggressive boxing style as I did in my first fight with Shinsuke Yamanaka. I`m fully focused and I predict the fight will end in the sixth round!”
