Saturday’s UFC show from Belem, Brazil, headlined by Lyoto Machida’s five-round decision win over Eryk Anders drew 839,000 viewers on FS 1.

The numbers were down from last year’s average for FS 1 shows of 965,000 viewers, but along the lines or better of what would be expected for a show with the show’s star power level. The first FS 1 Fight Night of the year, with Jeremy Stephens vs. Doo Ho Choi in the main event, did 1,285,000 viewers, the best FS 1 Fight Night number in nearly two years.

Saturday’s show peaked during the main event with 974,000 viewers.

With the show losing its co-main event of John Dodson vs. Pedro Munhoz over the latest weight-cutting problem, from a star standpoint, it was limited to Machida and Valentina Shevchenko.

The main card also averaged 12,538 viewers streaming on FSGO and FOX Now.

On a more positive note, the UFC fan base that watches regularly continues to watch more hours. The prelims from 8-10 p.m., headlined by Tim Means win over Sergio Moraes, did 361,000 viewers on FS 2, making it the seventh most-watched show in the history of the station. It was up 13 percent from the last time prelims aired on FS 2 in June, and did 6,355 viewers for an average minute streaming.

Something that stat shows that is notable is with FS 2 in less homes than FS 1, one would think the inability to watch it on regular television in so many homes that would normally watch the prelims would increase the streaming numbers. But that didn’t happen.

It was a heavy male-dominated audience, with 75.4 percent of the viewers in the 18-49 demo being men.

The major sports competition saw the NFL Honors on NBC do 3,457,000 viewers, and a Houston vs. Cleveland NBA game on ABC did 2,967,000 viewers. Top Rank Boxing on ESPN did 741,000 viewers at 10:30 p.m. to midnight, which was head-to-head with the UFC main card.

The pre-fight show did 113,000 viewers on FS 2 and the post-fight show did 231,000 viewers on FS 1.
