Mexican world contender Juan Macías Montiel is “The Man From Uncle,” on a countdown mission for the middleweight title of the World Boxing Council, which is held by the undefeated and formidable master blaster Jermall Charlo.
The fight is on June 19 at the Toyota Center in Houston, Texas, the home stadium of the Houston Rockets of the NBA.
Macías Montiel, nephew of former world champion Fernando “Kochulito” Montiel, stresses he`s reached the launch pad, due to his work and his that of his mission control team.
Juan comes from knocking out contender James Kirkland in one blazing round.
Charlo comes from successfully retaining his title, after defeating Sergiy Derevichenko by unanimous decision last September with a stellar performance.
“I know that many people do not know me, and that Charlo does not know me. But, I`m convinced that all my skills will come to the fore, fighting against the champion of the division. It`s a Green and Gold opportunity that I cannot miss. We are very motivated to contest the WBC world title and we are going for it! We are going to spring one almighty surprise and we are going to make history,” vowed Macías Montiel.
The card will air on Showtime and is presented by PBC.
