A battle of European light heavyweight prospects is coming to the Czech Republic.
On Wednesday, the UFC announced that Magomed Ankalaev and Darko Stosic have been added to the promotion’s Feb. 23 debut at The O2 Arena in Prague. The bout was first reported by MMAjunkie.
A 26-year-old out of Dagestan, Russia, Ankalaev picked up his first UFC win in September with a first-round knockout of Marcin Prachnio. That helped him rebound from his dubious debut back in March where he handled Paul Craig for almost 15 minutes before succumbing to a triangle choke submission at the 4:59 mark of round three. Ankalaev owns an 11-1 pro record with six of those wins coming by KO.
Stosic, 26, has also been projected as one to watch at 205 pounds. The Serbian made a successful UFC debut in July with a first-round TKO of Jeremy Kimball, the eighth KO victory of his career. He has won nine straight bouts and is 13-1 in his career.
UFC Prague will be headlined by a light heavyweight bout between Jan Blachowicz and Thiago Santos.
