Malik Scott compares Deontay Wilder’s power with Lewis & Klitschko

Boxingnews24.com

By Jeff Aranow: After training with WBC heavyweight champion Deontay Wilder on a daily basis in helping him prepare for his December 1 fight against Tyson Fury, Malik Scott compares his punching power to former heavyweight champions Lennox Lewis and Wladimir Klitschko.

Scott says what makes Wilder more dangerous is his punches get to their mark faster due to his hand speed. When Wilder (40-0, 39 KOs) seems an opening, he’s able to fire off a right hand that gets to the head of his opponents with lightning speed to hurt them.

Scott can further attest to the power of Wilder, considering that he was knocked out in the 1st round by him four years ago in 2014.

Wilder will be defending against the 30-year-old Fury in less than one month on December 1 on Showtime PPV at the Staples Center in Los Angeles, California.

“It’s in the top three, but the other two are Lennox Lewis and Wladimir Klitschko,” said Malik Scott to Fighthype. “But who gets there faster with the power is Deontay out of anybody I ever been in with. He gets there fast. You got different kid of power. You got George Foreman type of power.”

Some boxing fans think Scott doesn’t have the punch resistance, but Wilder has the kind of power that would hurt anyone that he spars with. There are rumors that Wilder hurt Jarrell ‘Big Baby’ Miller during a sparring session in the past. Fury, 6’9″, has been down on the canvas in the past by Steve Cunningham. Fury beat Wladimir in 2015, but he didn’t get hit more than a handful of times by him. Wladimir wasn’t throwing punches in the fight.

“I believe he’s going to win by a knockout, but I can’t say what round it will come around,” Scott said in predicting a stoppage win for Wilder over Tyson Fury. “Tyson Fury can make a fight ugly. Deontay Wilder is very patient. It was like that with his fight with Luis Ortiz. Once Wilder finally hit Ortiz with the first right hand, the fight was over.”

What’s clear is that if Wilder starts finding Fury with right hands, the fight is going to be over with on December 1. Fury is going to obviously be looking to make Wilder miss with his shots all night long like he did against Wladimir in their fight in 2015. Wilder isn’t going to hold back the way the Ukrainian KO artist did against Fury. Wilder will trust his power and accuracy enough for him to go after Fury’s chin.

“I feel like a killer,” Wilder said to Fightnews.com. “Tyson Fury doesn’t know what he got himself into. There is nothing at all that concerns me about him. He has an awkward style but my experience will be too much for him.”

Fury is going to have to do more than just move around the ring against Wilder if he wants to keep him off of him. Fury will need to fight Wilder, and not just move around on the outside for 12 rounds.
