DAVAO CITY – Undefeated Jayson “Smasher” Mama of Gen. Santos City is now in Dubai to continue his training for his title fight against reigning IBF World flyweight champion Sunny “Showtime” Edwards of United Kingdom on Sept. 11 at the Copper Box Arena, Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park in Hackney Wick, UK.

Mama, 24, arrived together with manager JC Manangquil and trainer Ronerex Dalut.

They decided to stop and stay earlier in Dubai to continue the training.

“Para tuloy tuloy na (To go on and on),” said Manangquil.

Dubai is only a seven hours trip to the UK already.

Mama (16W-0l, 9KOs) will be making his first sparring against featherweight KJ “The Ipugo” Natuplag of Ifugao, who will also be fighting on Sept. 12 in Dubai.

The 24-year-old Natuplag (8W-3L-2D, 7KOs) will fight against Argel Berrio (18W-8L-0D, 11KOs) of Colombia.

Mama and his team will stay for 10 days at the Altruim Hotel in Albarsha before going to the UK.

They needed 14 days of quarantine in the UK.

“Wala daw labasan kaya Dubai mas OK para straight na (There seems to be no exit so Dubai is more OK for straight),” said promoter-matchmaker Brico Santig, who is accompanying Natuplag in Dubai.
