DAVAO CITY – Lightweight Edward “The Nightmare” Mancito refused to accept the additional money sent by the Tanzania promoter and instead will file a complaint to the Games and Amusements Board (GAB) and the Universal Boxing Organization (UBO).
Mancito only received an additional P12,000 (twelve thousand pesos) or US$250 (two hundred fifty US dollars) from Western Union but he did not accept it.
Instead, Mancito will file a formal complaint to the GAB headed by Abraham Mitra and the UBO led by its president Joerg Herzog from Germany.
Tanzania promoter Semunyu Selamani had refused to pay an additional US$1,200 after the fight was turned into a UBO World lightweight 12-round title fight.
Mancito, who got lost in the fight by a unanimous decision to Salimu Jengo of Tanzania last Nov. 28 only received $1,800 during the fight.
The promoter promised to send an additional payment of only $300 but Mancito’s manager Allan Ortega did not agree.
“Buti pa ang UBO Asia Pacific title fight, they will pay $3,000,” said Ortega.
Welterweight Alvin “Time Bomb” Lagumbay of Bukidnon will fight against Cosmas Cheka of Tanzania on Dec. 31 for the UBO Asia Pacific title at the Jamhuri Stadium.
Mancito, on the other hand, only receive $1,800.
At first, it was agreed that the fight will only be non-title but it was later announced by the promoter that it will be a UBO World title fight at the press conference.
Mancito and his trainer Allan Alegria did not agree but they still have to fight.
Mancito, who is already back home in the Philippines together with Alegria last Nov. 29, is now preparing documents to file the formal complaint against Selamani.
