Mangubat TKO’s Empic in 4th round

DAVAO CITY – Featherweight Tomjune “War Dog” Mangubat of Bukidnon stopped Reymond Empic of Cebu in the 4th round by a technical knockout in the main event of the “Kumbati 6” boxing event held last Dec. 18 at IPI Compound in Mandaue City.

The 23-year-old Mangubat kept on chasing Empic from the start of the 1st round, hitting him with his pummeling punches.

Empic tried to counter but Mangubat was more hitting him with his jabs. Empic refused to answer the bell in the 4th round.

Mangubat improved his record to 11 wins with nine knockouts against two defeats and one draw while Empic suffered his fifth loss against seven wins.

Meanwhile, super lightweight Carlo Bacaro TKO’d Ryan Maano in 2:30 in the 3rd round; flyweight Regie Suganob beat Robert Ates by a unanimous decision; super bantamweight Benny Canete TKO’d John Roque Villagonzalo in the 2nd round.

The bubble boxing event was the second time presented by Pio Castillo Jr. of Omega Boxing Promotions.
