Manny Pacquiao isn’t planning to retire and a date is eyed for the Jeff Horn rematch
INDICATIONS are that Manny Pacquiao will rematch Jeff Horn later this year.
Horn, previously little known, scored a shock decision victory over Pacquiao in Brisbane last month. Pacquiao looked a diminished figure and was outmuscled by the raw and much less experienced Australian.
Pacquiao’s promoter, Bob Arum however told ESPN that the senator would not call it a day and was targeting the rematch in November.
“He doesn’t want to retire. He wants the rematch. We’re now working with the Philippines Senate to figure out the window when they will have a recess so he can train and appear at the fight and hopefully we’ll be able to do that fight in November. It’ll be a great night again for boxing fans now they know who Jeff Horn is. I look forward to seeing that fight on ESPN,” Arum said.
Horn, the new WBO welterweight champion, also welcomed a second fight with the Filipino. He still feels he has a point to prove.
“I’m really happy to fight the rematch because I copped so much flak over the points decision,” Horn told the Courier Mail. “But I’ll beat Manny even more convincingly this time. I don’t want to say I’m looking for the knockout but a KO certainly puts all arguments away.
“I can push through to even higher levels of fitness for this fight.’’
