DAVAO CITY – Former Luzon Professional Boxing Association (Luzproba) flyweight champion Geboi Mansalayao will face Jayson Rotoni for the interim Philippine Boxing Federation (PBF) flyweight title on November 14 in Mindoro Occidental.
The 10-round championship fight is promoted by Cecilio Alvarez of the JBoy Promotion with Jimmy Narvaez as the matchmaker.
Mansalayao of Malita, Davao del Sur is toting 10 wins with 23 losses, 5 draws and 4 knockouts while Rotoni of San Teodoro, Mindoro Oriental has a record of 14W-16L-1D-8KOs.
The 28-year old Mansalayao has already fought in 10 different title fights in Asia. However, he only won one of them when he took the Luzproba flyweight crown by knocking out in the fourth round Powell Balaba on September 6, 2015 in La Trinidad, Benguet.
Mansalayao then fought but lost in all three separate championships.
He first bowed to Panya Pradabsri by a unanimous decision for WBC Asian Boxing Council Continental minimumweight title last December 25 at the Maejo University in Chiang Mai, Thailand.
Mansalayao was then knocked out by Nawaphon Kaikanha on March 18, 2016 at the Chaleena Hotel in Bangkok for the WBC Asian Boxing Council flyweight title.
In his next title fight, Mansalayao was stopped by Masazumi Furukawa in the first round last June 10, 2016 in Mandaluyong City for the vacant WBC Asian Boxing Council Silver flyweight crown.
In his last outing, Mansalayao was pummelled to submission in the 7th round by Ryan Rey Ponteras last August 27 in Kidapawan City.
Rotoni, 29, also fought in six different title fights. But he lost all of them including the interim PABA light flyweight to Pornsawan Porpramook by a technical decision last June 18, 2013 in Bangkok.
He last won by a 4th round stoppage against Roy Lagrada on January 21, 2016 at the Sablayan Astrodome in Mindoro.
Rotoni, however, bowed to Michael Bravo by a UD on April 1 at the M’lang Gym in M’lang, North Cotabato in his last assignment.
The undercard will feature super lightweight Roselito Campana (18-19-3) against Junard Postrano (7-9-0) and featherweight Ryan Medez (1-8-2) versus Rex Merceno (0-3-0).
