When Marc Diakiese fought Joseph Duffy at UFC London in March, his future with the promotion was potentially on the line. Not only did he get a crucial victory, he now has a new contract.
Diakiese (13-3) confirmed the news on his official Twitter account earlier this week.View image on Twitter

The Englishman (by way of the Democratic Republic of Congo) was signed by the UFC in 2016 as a highly touted lightweight prospect. He starred in BAMMA, getting a couple of big knockouts along the way, and his UFC career started off with a TKO of Lukasz Sajewski at UFC 204. A decision win over Frankie Perez, followed by a superb KO of Teemu Packalen extended his UFC record to 3-0, and 12-0 overall in MMA.
Things took a turn for the worse for the 26-year-old, as he dropped a split decision to Drakkar Klose in July of 2017. He was later choked out by Dan Hooker at UFC 219, then lost a decision to Nasrat Haqparast last July. In must-win territory against Duffy at UFC London two months ago, he turned in an outstanding performance and won a shutout decision. Back in the win column on his birthday, Diakiese was overcome with emotion when the official verdict was read, as if a massive weight had been lifted off his shoulders.
While it is “time to get to work” for Diakiese, he does not have a fight booked as of this writing, although perhaps that will change soon.
