Mark Vicelles, Jesse Espinas Make Weight for WBA Asia 108-LBS Clash in Cebu, Philippines

CEBU CITY, Philippines   —   Fighters successfully made weight for the Omega Sports Promotions boxing show set to thrill fans Saturday, July 6, at the Panphil B. Frasco Memorial Sports Complex in Liloan, Cebu, Philippines, and fans can’t wait for the sound of the first bell.

In the main event, unbeaten Omega Gym fighter Mark Vicelles (10-0, 5 KO’s) weighed-in at 107.7 pounds while dangerous, more-experienced opponent Jesse Espinas (19-3, 11 KO’s) of the Sammy Gello-ani stable stepped-in lighter at 105.8 lbs.   The two fast southpaws will battle for the vacant WBA Asia South Light Flyweight belt, and a berth in the world-rankings.

Manuel Formentera 114.5 lbs vs Prince Andrew Laurio 115.8 pounds



In the co-feature, Manuel Formentera (10-3, 6 KO’s) of Camotes Islands scaled-in at 114.5 pounds for his well-matched collision against Prince Andrew Laurio (10-2-1, 7 KO’s) of Masbate.    Laurio, 20, tipped the GAB scale at 115.8.   Both men looked in perfect shape for their 10-rounder co-main event that promises fireworks.

Tomjune Mangubat 127.1 pounds (L) vs Joffrey Garcia 126.2 lbs.


In another exciting clash, Omega Gym’s hard-hitting “Wardog” Tomjune Mangubat (10-1-1, 9 KO’s) recorded 127.1 pounds as his strong-looking southpaw foe Joffrey Garcia (6-10-4, 5 KO’s) of Albay Province got 126.2 pounds on the scale.   The two men will rumble in a scheduled 8-rounder is in the super featherweight division.    Tomjune didn’t do so good in his latest combat.  Will he make it back to the winning circle?

Carlo Bacaro 136.6 pounds (L) vs Mar k Anthony Rotilles 139 lbs.


Moreover, unbeaten 19-year-old lightweight Carlo Bacaro (3-0, 3 KO’s) made 136.6 lbs., for his 6-rounder clash against Boholano warrior Mark Anthony Rotilles (2-4, 1 KO).    Rotilles stopped the needle at 139 pounds and the stage is hot and ready for their war in super lightweight division.

Penitente “Thunder” Apolinar 126.7 pounds (L) vs Renan Ramos 123.7 lbs.



In another featherweight rumble, promising, hard-puncher Peter Apolinar (9-1, 6 KO’s) weighed-in at 126.7 pounds, against 123.7 lbs recorded by Rey Ramos (8-11-2, 3 KO’s) of Cainta, Rizal.    The two men will lock horns in a scheduled 8-rounder.   Will this battle make it the distance?   Fans in Liloan, Cebu, will find out soon.

The weigh-in unfolded today, July 5, at Mangahan Restaurant in the Queen City of the South, Cebu City.

Present during the officials weigh-in ceremony was Philippines Games and Amusement Board (GAB) Cebu Office Officer in Charge Arlene Olondriz, as well as I.P.I. Excecutive and Omega Gym President Pio Paulo Castillo, and Omega Vice president Jerome Calatrava.

Also in attendance enjoying the weigh-in proceedings were Dong Secuya of Philboxing, Cebuano third man Nic Banal, Inews sports reporter Antonio Antogop Jr., and international referee Antonio “Tony” Pesons.
