MARTIN WINS WBC ASIAN BANTAMWEIGHT TITLE

FILIPINO boxer Carl James “Wonder Boy” Martin landed a solid body punch to stop Thailand’s Artid Bamrungauea by a knockout in the second round to capture the interim WBC Asian Boxing Council Continental bantamweight title last Dec. 23 at the DepEd Gym in Lagawe, Ifugao.
It was the 7th straight win and 6th knockout by the still unbeaten 18-year old Martin, who also holds the Philippine Boxing Federation (PBF) and Luzon Professional Boxing Association (LuzProBA) bantamweight titles.
Martin first won the LuzProBA bantamweight crown via a unanimous decision against Jason Buenaobra last April 19 at the Banaue Gym in Barangay Poblacion, Banaue.
He later captured the PBF crown by stopping Vincent Bautista in the 5th round last October 28 at Bayombong Sports Complex in Bayombong.
The 10-round championship fight was promoted by Romeo Tumiguing and supervised by Abraham Kahlil “Baham” Mitra. (LITO DELOS REYES)
