Maryna Moroz out of UFC 241 fight with Poliana Botelho

By Guilherme Cruz and Alexander K. Lee

Poliana Botelho will need a new opponent if she hopes to stay on the UFC 241 card.

An injury has forced Maryna Moroz out of her upcoming flyweight bout with Botelho scheduled for Aug. 17 in Anaheim, California, according to a statement from Moroz’s manager Alex Davis.

”In Maryna’s name, we want to apologize to Polyana for Maryna having dropped out of the fight,” Davis told MMA Fighting’s Guilherme Cruz. “Maryna took a kick in her elbow, which inflamed her ulna nerve. She is still in a lot of pain and still cannot use her arm.

“We hope that the UFC finds Polyana a worthy opponent and wish her the best of luck.”

Moroz’s withdrawal was first reported by MMA Premium.

This was to be the second bout of 2019 for both women, with Moroz having outpointed Sabina Mazo at a UFC on ESPN show in March and Botelho coming off of a unanimous decision win over Lauren Mueller at UFC 236.

Should Botelho (8-2) still compete at UFC 241, it will be on the strength of three wins in her first four Octagon appearances.
