In a 6 round war which was inmediately nominated to Fight of the Year in Panama, undefeated Cuban flyweight Daniel Matellon (3-0-2, 1 KO) overcame a knock down in round 2, to later drop his Dominican opponent, Jonathan “El Agua” Arias (17-13, 15 KO’s) in rounds 4 and 5 of the intense battle, to win a unnanimous decision and an ovation from the fans at Los Andes Mall in San Miguelito, Panama. Two judges scored the fight 56-55 and the third one 57-54.
The 3rd round of Matellon vs Arias is considered by experts as one of the most exciting rounds of recent boxing history in Panama.
