In an emotional event at the World Boxing Council Weekly Press Conference, WBC President Mauricio Sulaiman, presented a special recognition to Olympic boxing bronze medallist Misael Rodriguez.
Misael, who`s from Chihuahua, came to the WBC Conference to discuss his important achievement, which shone out at the Rio Olympics. Finally after sixteen long years, Mexico has won a boxing medal! Misael had to work exceptionally hard for his place on the podium in Rio, fighting his way through the exceptionally tough middleweight division.
Mauricio commented, “This Medal is a marvellous achievement of Misael and that’s what we`re so proud to acknowledge.” In so doing, he presented Misael with a WBC mini belt, recognizing his triumph but also hoping it`ll act as a lucky charm talisman for his future as professional fighter.
The talented bronze medallist said he`s pleased with his performance. He added that after some vacations he will decide whether to turn pro or remain as an amateur.
