Mauricio Sulaiman: It’s a great moment for boxing

The president of the World Boxing Council, Mauricio Sulaiman, was very proud of the National Sports Award 2018 received by Saul Alvarez in the category of professional sports, highlighting that the Guadalajara is a just winner who thanks to his effort places boxing at the top.

“It is a reward more than deserved for Saul after having defeated Golovkin. Also for having overcome this problem of doping that ultimately was nonexistent, having had the mental and physical strength to conquer the world in the ring on the night of September 15 is something we will never forget, “said the boxing leader, who was part of the guests to the National Sports Award, presented by the President of Mexico, Enrique Peña Nieto, at the official residence of Los Pinos.

With great emotion he added that this recognition will encourage the new generations to put on their gloves and follow in the footsteps of the tapatío, who is turned into a true Mexican idol.

“This moment is great, because it puts our sport at the top, the fact that I receive it from the president is something very rewarding, I am sure that many children, seeing this, will want to put on their gloves and climb the ring to follow in the footsteps of ‘Canelo’, “he said.

He recalled that, at the time, Don Jose Sulaiman, always wished that a boxer was a creditor of this national award.
