Oddsmakers have faith that 2018 really is the “Blessed” era.

UFC featherweight champion Max Holloway opened as a sizable betting favorite over Frankie Edgar on Wednesday ahead of their March 3 contest at UFC 222. Holloway was listed as a nearly 3-to-1 favorite (-280) to defeat Edgar (+225) in the opening betting lines, courtesy ofBovada.

UFC 222 takes place at the T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas, Nevada. The event is scheduled to air on pay-per-view.

Holloway vs. Edgar was initially slated for Dec. 2017 at UFC 218, however Edgar was forced to withdraw from the fight after suffering a broken orbital bone in training. In Edgar’s stead, Holloway faced late-replacement Jose Aldo in a rematch. Similar to his UFC 212 fight against Aldo, Holloway decisively defeated the legendary Brazilian champion with a grisly third-round TKO.

For his two victories over Aldo, Holloway (19-3) captured top honors as MMA Fighting’s 2017 Fighter of the Year.

The 26-year-old featherweight champion will ride a 12-fight win streak into UFC 222, the fifth-longest undefeated run in UFC history. Holloway also possesses the most wins in UFC featherweight history and is the youngest fighter ever to accumulate 15 Octagon victories.

Edgar (22-5-1) is a perennial spoiler though. The 36-year-old New Jersey native is a former UFC lightweight champion who has racked up a 7-2 record since dropping down to 145 pounds, with his only setbacks coming in decision losses to Aldo. Edgar competed only once in 2017, outclassing top prospect Yair Rodriguez en route to a lopsided, second-round win via doctor’s stoppage.
