One fighter who already aspires to equal and even eclipse the star power of the two aforementioned is 20-year-old strawweight Maycee Barber, who is still riding on a confidence high after her impressive UFC debut against Hannah Cifers last November.

“I told (Dana White) that I was gonna be as big, if not bigger than Conor McGregor and Ronda Rousey and all of the stars he has. And I am one of his next big stars,” she told MMA Fighting. “There aren’t very many right now, especially females. And I fit that perfectly.

“Just in terms of the person I want to portray in terms of the sport, I feel like I could fill that.”

Barber is, in fact, drawing inspiration from McGregor, particularly about being the best at your chosen endeavor.

“Conor McGregor did it right. If he’s gonna fight, if he’s gonna be a public figure, he might as well be the best one he can possibly be,” Barber said. “And he’s doing it, right? Why would I be any different?”

Barber (6-0, with 5 wins by stoppage) is scheduled to face J.J. Aldrich on March 23rd in Nashville.
