During the traditional “Coffee Tuesdays” we had as a special guest Ana María Estrella, manager of public relations and social responsibility of Medix, a 100% Mexican company, oriented to the research, development, manufacture, and commercialization of pharmaceutical chemical products.
Ana Maria thanked in a very special way this invitation and was emphatic in saying that today more than ever it is imperative to understand that our body is a temple, and as such we must take care of ourselves, even more in these times when we are threatened by Covid-19.
Ana María stated that studies have shown that vitamin D3 helps to strengthen the immune system, and actively participates in the proper functioning of the body since it intervenes in many physiological processes such as absorption and the maintenance of calcium levels in the bones.
She clarified that it is difficult to know if a person has a vitamin D deficiency since its deficiency does not cause any symptoms, so she advised to have a specific study to be carried out to know at what level of absorption we are at. She also revealed that some studies have shown that a vitamin D deficiency could be linked to various medical conditions, including diabetes, high blood pressure, cancer, and autoimmune diseases.
Understanding that vitamin D3 is present in some foods such as fatty fish (herring, salmon, mackerel), egg yolks, meat, and fortified foods, Ana was clear in saying that sometimes it is necessary to take a supplement of this vitamin, as long as this consumption is monitored by a doctor who specifies how much you need to take, how often you should take them and for how long.
For the entire Medix team, being able to work together with the WBC is a privilege, as one of the company’s mottos is to actively contribute to improve people’s quality of life, and to consider that health is a priority in order to take care of ourselves.
