Mercito Gesta, who is coming off of a loss to Jorge Linares on January 27, will be back in action on June 14 in a Golden Boy Boxing on ESPN main event from Indio, California, facing Roberto “Tito” Manzanarez.
“I can’t wait to get back into the ring and put on a great show against Roberto Manzanarez,” said Gesta (31-2-2, 17 KO). ”Roberto is a young, tall, talented, and a hungry fighter with an outstanding fight record. I’ve been training hard with my dad, my team, and coach Freddie Roach, and come June 14, Robert and I will give the boxing fans a great fight!”
Manzanarez (35-1, 28 KO) is a native of Phoenix and hasn’t lost a fight since 2012. Most recently, he fought and won in Mexico on March 17.
“This fight is very important for me,” said Manzanarez. ”All fights are important, but this one is the most important one because winning this fight will earn me more opportunities. I’m working on everything in the gym. I know the style of Mercito Gesta and I know that he’s fast. But I’m working very hard to win this fight.”
In the co-feature, a pair of unbeaten prospects will meet for the NABF featherweight title, as Edgar Valerio (13-0, 8 KO) takes on Manny Robles III (15-0, 7 KO).
