DAVAO CITY – Southpaw Rimar “Terminator” Metuda of Cagayan de Oro City will face veteran Eden Sonsona of Gen. Santos City on March 17 at the Sanman Gym in Gensan.
Metuda, who is a fighter from Sanman Boxing has scored two straight wins in his last two fights last 2019. He, however, had no bouts in 2020 due to the pandemic.
The 26-year-old Metuda (14W-6L-1D, 8KOs) settled a majority draw with Japanese Nihito Arakawa for the WBO Asia Pacific lightweight title last May 20, 2018, in Japan.
Metuda lost three times in 2019 to Aketelieke Jieensi of China, Ravshanbek Umurzakov and Ju Wu of China before he came back with two straight wins against Jhesriel Agrabio Vikano and Nelson Gulpe, both in Gensan.
Sonsona (36W-12L-2D, 13KOs), on the other hand, lost to former WBO World bantamweight champion Marlon Tapales by a TKO in the 2nd round last Nov. 21, 2020, in Sanman Gym.
Sonsona, now 32, has earlier won against Jovany Rota via 1st round TKO for the WBF International super featherweight title in 2017 in Gensan.
He also prevailed over Adrian Estrella of Mexico by a 2nd round TKO to win the vacant WBC International Silver featherweight title last 2015 in Mexico.
The Sanman’s Bubble Series will have a total of seven bouts.
“Sanman only brings you pure boxing action and nothing else,” said Jim Claude Manangquil, Sanman CEO.
He added: “We have consistently done it in the past and will continue to deliver.”
