Undefeated English fighter Michael McKinson won the first major title of his career…lifting aloft World Boxing Council World Championship welterweight belt after defeating compatriot Ryan Martin.
McKinson started by landing some good combinations. As the fight progressed, Martin retaliated with astute counter punching.
At times it was see saw action, but Mckinson proved to have better technique and boxing skills, which was reflected in the judges’ relatively close scores of (97-95, 97-94, 98-93).
At the end of the match, Mckinson showed great pride in winning the WBC title, pledging to continue working, in order to become absolute world champion.
