A pair of New Jersey natives will go at it in Nebraska.
Mickey Gall will take on George Sullivan in a welterweight fight at UFC Lincoln on Aug. 25, the Lincoln Journal Star reported Wednesday. Also added to the card was a bout between Iuri Alcantara and Cory Sandhagen in the bantamweight division. Alcantara vs. Sandhagen was first reported last month by Combate.
Gall (4-1) has not fought since a unanimous decision loss to Randy Brown at UFC 217 last November at Madison Square Garden. He has since moved his training west to the new MusclePharm gym in Burbank, Calif., where he’s working with the likes of Matt Brown and Joe Schilling. Gall, 26, won his first three UFC fights over Mike Jackson, CM Punk and then Sage Northcutt after coming off Dana White’s “Lookin’ for a Fight” show.
Sullivan (17-6, 1 NC) has lost two straight. His first fight back after two UFC anti-doping policy violations and suspensions came against Niko Price at UFC on FOX 27 in January, a second-round submission loss. Sullivan, 37, had won three of five before the two suspensions.
Alcantara (36-9, 1 NC) is coming off a first-round TKO win over Joe Soto at UFC Belem in February. That fight snapped a two-bout losing streak for the 37-year-old Brazilian. Sandhagen (8-1) debuted in the UFC on that same Belem card and won by second-round TKO over Austin Arnett. Sandhagen is a 26-year-old prospect.
UFC Lincoln is headlined by a lightweight showdown between Justin Gaethje and James Vick. Also on the card, Alexa Grasso will take on Angela Hill in a women’s strawweight fight.
