Miesha Tate gives birth to baby girl after 67 hours of labor

After being in labor for 67 hours, former women’s UFC bantamweight champion Miesha Tate gave birth to a baby girl, Amaia, last Sunday evening. Tate and her partner Johnny Nunez, a former competitor on seasons 22 and 25 of ‘The Ultimate Fighter’ both revealed the news on their Instagram accounts.

After losing to Raquel Pennington at UFC 205 in November 2016, Tate (18-7) announced her retirement from MMA in her post-fight octagon interview with Joe Rogan. The 31-year-old won bantamweight gold when she defeated Holly Holm by fifth round submission at UFC 196 in March 2016, the fight also earned Tate the 2016 Comeback of the Year award.

Tate’s partner, Nunez, a former World Series of Fighting (WSOF) veteran, also released the following statement on his Instagram account.

Finally… after over 67 hours of Labor, my love of my life has arrived, Amaia Nevaeh Nuñez…Amaia meet the World …Daddy Vows to love you, protect you and Never leave you!! I am dedicating my life to loving you, Cherishing you, Inspiring you and Teaching you what I have learned early and in the later of my life. I am confident that you won’t take this life for granted, and I know when you get where your going in life… you won’t forget to turn around and help the next one in line!! We will teach you, by example, to be Humble and Kind… just like your momma! GO GET EM BABY GIRL! The world is yours!
