Charismatic former world champion Cristian Mijares will fight his farewell bout on June 16, when he faces former Puerto Rican world champion Wilfredo “Papito” Vázquez Jr on home turf at Gómez Palacio’s Centennial Auditorium Gym, Durango, Mexico.
Promoter Pepe Gómez, of Cancun Boxing confirms that the farewell of Cristian Mijares (59-8-2, 27 KOs) will be on June 16 in his native Gómez Palacio, Durango, and that his rival, will be the former world champion, Wilfredo ‘Papito’ Vázquez (24-7-1, 19 KOs).
“We just need to confirm the details of the flight dates, but that’s it,” said Gómez about the battle between former champions. “Mijares has been a great fighter, a great champion, and we are going to give him the farewell he deserves in front of his people.”
