Mike Jackson: UFC 225 will be CM Punk’s last fight, I can guarantee that

Even after a subpar performance in his UFC debut in 2016, CM Punk has received a new lease on life in terms of his MMA career. Over the weekend, it was officially announced that the former WWE star will be facing fellow 0-1 fighter Mike Jackson at UFC 225 in his hometown of Chicago.

Not everyone feels Punk deserves his spot at the UFC. One of them is Jackson, who promises that the MMA world will be seeing the last of CM Punk after they fight each other.

”They paid him a half-a-million the last time. They’ll probably pay him another half-a-million this time and that will be it,” Jackson told FloCombat. “This will be his last fight. I can guarantee that. Cause after I touch him, he ain’t going to want this no more.”

Jackson has been an MMA competitor since 2008 when he began his amateur career. With this much experience under his belt, the 33-year-old Houston native actually feels this fight is a mismatch, in his favor.

”I do feel it’s still a mismatch,” Jackson said. At one point in time, I had no idea who Anderson Silva was. I thought he looked like a good fighter and had an interesting look, but after he smashed on Chris Leben, I was an instant fan. At the time, he was doing all this stuff in [other organizations] and I wasn’t really watching so I had no idea who Anderson Silva was. It didn’t mean he wasn’t good.

”Now I’m not comparing myself to Anderson Silva but people have just not seen me ‘cause I’ve not had that kind of exposure.”

UFC 225 is scheduled to take place on June 9th. It will be headlined by the middleweight title rematch between Robert Whittaker and Yoel Romero.
