Light heavyweight Mike Lee will be fighting for the third time this year when he takes on Chris Traietti in Chicago.

“Subway” Mike Lee (17-0, 10 KOs) has just been scheduled to fight Chris Traietti (21-3, 17 KOs) on September 30th at the UIC Forum in Chicago, RingTV reports. By the way, the “Subway” nickname wasn’t meant to be a diss, I just know him more for the awful commercials than his in-the-ring exploits.

So, with that explanation out of the way, the 10-round fight will be broadcast live on CBS Sports Network beginning at 9PM EST with a possible IBF world ranking on the line.

“I’m very excited to be fighting against Chris Traietti on Sept. 30 at the UIC Forum in Chicago for the IBF USBA light heavyweight title,” said Lee.

“This is an excellent opportunity to fight in my hometown in the biggest fight of my career and I can’t wait to put on a great show for those in attendance and those watching live on CBS Sports Network.”

Lee will be fighting for the third time this year after he most recently beating Mike Snider by unanimous decision back in June. Traietti, on the other hand, is on an 11-fight stoppage streak since getting stopped himself by Edwin Rodriguez in 2011.

“I’m excited about facing Lee in Chicago for this fight,” said Traietti, who stopped Mike Sawyer in his most recent bout on June 11. “I’ve been wanting to fight him for a couple years now.

“The fight is scheduled for 10 rounds but I don’t think it’s going the distance and I plan on being victorious and taking the title home.”

The title he refers to would be the vacant USBA light heavyweight strap which is a regional title. Tickets to card, promoted by Lou DiBella and Round 3 Productions, go on sale today.
