World Boxing Council lightweight champion, Miguel ‘Mikey’ Garcia, will face IBF super lightweight champion, Kazakh Sergey Lipinets, on February 10th at the Alamodome in San Antonio, Texas.
If everything goes well, following this fight he`ll take on Venezuelan, Jorge Linares, who`s the WBC Diamond Champion , to define the king of the 135 pounds division. Garcia will not relinquish the WBC lightweight title, and he has asked for authorization to keep his lightweight crown and be able to fight with Lipinets.
Mikey has had a solid 2017 in which he won his third world crown by beating Montenegrin Dejan Zlaticanin, last January. He then former champion Adrien Broner.
Sergey Lipinets comes from defeating Japan`s Akihiro Kondo on November 4th at the Barclay’s Center in New York.
Jorge Linares is one of the most outstanding fighters of today. He`ll have his second consecutive fight at the Inglewood Forum in California, facing tough Filipino Mercito “No Mercy” Gesta, on January 27th.
